What’s going on in Gadgetzan?
All week Blizzard has been releasing articles and news from Gadgetzan. Beginning with a “Greetings from Gadgetzan” postcard (seen above), then releasing articles from the Gadgetzan Gazette. These are coming soon after the revelation of an upcoming expansion announcement. The expansion announcement comes on November 4th, which will reveal the new expansion and some new cards. It stands to reason that this Gadgetzan content is related to the upcoming expansion.
Gadgetzan
Gadgetzan is a desert town from World of Warcraft. It is a universal trading spot in the game, where both Horde and Alliance members can trade with each other. It is run by Goblins, as several of the leaked pictures have made obvious.
There are also two cards already within Hearthstone that are not only Goblins, but are titled Gadgetzan. Gatgetzan Auctioneer and Gadgetzan Jouster. Both are Goblins, which suits the theme of the town, and says a lot about the expansion’s likely content.
Talan’s Bar
Included within the teasers was a link to Talan’s Bar. It links to a facebook chat where you sign in as yourself and are able to chat with Talan. Included in the chat are several graphical teasers. There are several with Goblins and bars. There are also some odd ones with ‘shop keepers’:

The Bank
Throughout the teasers there have been many mentions of the bank. A new vault that is “110% unbreakable.” It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that it will play a large role in the expansion. I, and many others, have good reason to think that the theme of the expansion will be a bank vault. There were some mentions of “dragon figures in disguise,” so perhaps it will be a Goblins vs. Dragons type deal.
Card Predictions
I believe that there will be a large number of Goblins in the expansion. I’d be very surprised if we didn’t see things like Goblin Barkeep or Goblin Bank. The visuals released even show Goblins in working roles, making it difficult to believe otherwise.
I also tend to believe my first instinct regarding a large number of Dragons in the expansion. There haven’t been too many Hearthstone expansions without any Dragons. They also have been pushing them quite a bit recently, with Deathwing Dragonlord and others. Plus, they directly mentioned Dragons in one of the Gadgetzan Gazettes.
I also believe that there will be a new mechanic, somehow relating to the colour red. There have been a few references to “a strange red mana” in the teasers. I and many others believe it will play a large role. Some have speculated that it will be a new mechanic involving life, similar to Cho’Gall’s ability. I’m unsure about this, but I do believe that there will be a new mechanic involved in the upcoming expansion.
