3 Champions You Don’t Want to Ult You

Just the other day I was enjoying a calming normal game with a few friends which had me playing Katarina mid lane against a Syndra. I don’t play mid lane very often, but I’d like to think I know a little bit about what I’m doing after subjecting myself to hours of watching Bjergsen do his thing.

Apparently I wasn’t paying closing enough attention when Bjerg was on his OG signature champion Syndra, because I managed to unintentionally hand over an embarrassing amount of solo kills to my lane opponent, who presented me with a nice “:)” in chat after the third occurrence.

That smiley Syndra inspired this article. Please read on and take a mental note the next time you find yourself against any of the champions listed below. I don’t want any of my readers left walking around all day wondering why they are so upset at a smiley face.

3 Champions You Don’t Want to Ult You

Syndra

The champion that inspired this post. Syndra makes up for her lack of fashion sense with an insanely high amount of burst potential at level 6. We’re talking about a minimum of 270 damage, but probably more than that considering she gets an extra 90 damage for each additional sphere she has on the ground.

If you are anywhere close to 60% HP, chances are the enemy Syndra isn’t too far away from a lethal all-in.

Gangplank

GP also has an incredibly infuriating ultimate ability, but for completely different reasons than Syndra. This is a pirate who spends all game playing around his ability to earn more gold than his opponent. His entire kit centers around extra gold generation, and his ultimate is no exception.

You May Like

As long as a Gangplank is in your game you can expect to be subjected to his global ultimate while he continues to farm away in his lane with goals of dealing unreasonable damage late game with item advantage he’s established.

Cannon Barrage is annoying because it can tilt your perfectly even duel into the enemy’s favor. Tight 2v2 in the bottom lane? Not anymore. Surprisingly close duel in the mid lane? A little damage and crowd control from Cannon Barrage can solve that!

Illaoi

Illaoi is the latest top lane powerhouse to be released who you just can’t duel unless you’ve earned a lead early on. She will do more damage than you, and your jungler might not even be able to help you.

I’m convinced that the idea for Illaoi’s ultimate was conceived when a Rioter was playing Heimerdinger and 2v1’d his lane opponent plus the enemy jungler and then decided we need more of that in League of Legends. We didn’t need more of that in League of Legends.
