As is typical from the action role-playing game genre, Path of Exile isn’t mechanically demanding. In comparison to the 300+ actions-per-minute that a good StarCraft player executes, even the most demanding Path of Exile builds require less than a third of that activity. And yet, a certain subset of builds are even lower-effort and inactive. These are the five most brain-dead Path of exile builds you can use to breeze through the World of Wraeclast.
1. Flicker Strike (Oro/Terminus Est)
Don’t let your eyes fool you. Despite the flashiness of teleporting around the map, these dedicated Flicker Strike builds can clear entire maps without ever letting go of right-click. Using either Oro’s Sacrifice or Terminus Est allows these brain-dead builds to easily clear the bosses of maps, and with a low starting budget to boot.
2. Max-block Gladiator
While actually much more active than the rest of the builds on this list, the beauty of a max-block Gladiator is that you’re virtually invincible. Veteran streamer Alkaizer designed a variant specifically because he was so fed up with dying due to connection issues. You get sweet explosions, incredible safety, and idiot-proof mechanics with this build.
3. Righteous Fire
Righteous Fire, especially as we approach the release of 3.0, has quickly become one of the most popular skills to build around in the past year. Whether they are life-based or low-life, RF builds are consistently some of the tankiest and safest clearing builds. Because damage scaling is primarily done through increasing one’s effective lifepool, you get to simultaneously become tankier and more damaging. Walk around, burn shit, win game. Of course, leveraging other mechanics like Elemental Equilibrium, Elemental Overload, and Vaal Lightning Trap can greatly improve your damage against bosses.
4. Abberath’s Hooves
Continuing along the theme of run-around/kill everything, the build enabling unique item Abberath’s Hooves comes with a skill of its own, setting enemies around you ablaze as you run. As far as this list goes, it’s definitely the most expensive to get off of the ground, but it’s totally worth it if you love lazy gameplay combined with 1-shotting the biggest bosses. The only active skill that it uses is Vaal Righteous Fire for dealing literally millions of damage to bosses in a single button.
5. Cast-while-Channeling Lightning Warp
I’ve saved the most innovative (and inefficient) for last. You can combine one of the few ‘Channeling’ skills in the game with the movement spell Lightning Warp to have constant teleports around the map. Where does the damage come from? Well, various uniques have created a ton of possibilities here: Tulfall Dischargers, Cospri’s Malice spellcasters, and most recently for myself, a Cast-When-Damage-Taken-Suicide-Heartbound-Loop-Berserker SRS-Vortex-Frostbolt-Sire-of-Shards variant. Essentially, hold down your channeling skill, then let the silly mechanics of Path of Exile do the rest of the work for you—the epitome of braindead. A warning: the min-maxing of this lazy Path of Exile builds is anything but easy.
