5. LGD Gaming

LGD Gaming was created back in 2009. They began as “The Dream Team” but later switched to their current name, and are one of the older teams to still have a high overall ranking. LGD lost four of their players in 2011 to Invictus Gaming but have since rebuilt. Their first win was on June 23rd 2012 at the Gigabyte Dota 2 Masters where they won $3000. Not much money for a start, but look where they are now!

4. Evil Geniuses

Evil Geniuses are one of the oldest North American teams out there. They were founded back in 1999 and are currently rated fourth in the world but number one in North America. Evil Geniuses’ most recent major tournament win was on February 9, 2015 at the Dota 2 Asia Championships. They won a total of $1,284,158. Evil Geniuses have always had experienced players and will not back down. They are one of the few teams to still be on the top after many years.

3. Cloud 9

Cloud 9 is a well-known team in many games and always seems to have a high position in the rankings. Cloud 9 is currently rated third in the world and second in Europe. Although they don’t
have many first place wins, they always seem to come out in the top three. Cloud 9’s first Dota 2 win was on February 28, 2014 at Bounty Hunter Series #2, where they won $1000. Cloud 9 is on track to keep climbing the ladder in the near future.

2. Team Secret

Team Secret is rated the second best team in Dota 2 at the moment. Founded in August 2014, the team was originally made up of members from Natus Vincere, Alliance, and Fnatic. Although this team is rated number two in the world, they are rated number one in Europe. Their first tournament victory was in December 2014 at XMG Captains Draft 2.0, winning a total of $96,599.

1. ViCi Gaming

ViCi Gaming is currently the top team in Dota 2. Although they are an amazing team right now, they didn’t start off so well. A player who goes by the name of PanPan, formed ViCi Gaming in October 2012, but the team didn’t place first in a tournament until the EMS One Fall Season finals in December 2013. Since then, ViCi Gaming have been trading players and making adjustments to their team to better their chances at winning more tournaments, and of course, the world championship.
